Not Ready for the Day to Start Haikus

Haiku FridayThe house is asleep:
Soft hum of my computer
its gentle waking.

My cold toes wiggle
under a still sleeping cat:
warm, furry blanket.

There's movement outside,
the light is getting sharper,
but I'm not ready.

I want to cling to
that last moment of stillness
like a lost lover.

  1. Oh, I've been here, I have.

I've been sneaking up early to get work done online and LOVE the peaceful solitude while my family is asleep. My warm blanket on my feet is a dog, though.

    Great haiku.

  2. Absolute perfection, the haiku and the moments it captures.

  3. Lovely, beautiful, perfect Haiku poetry. That's my favourite part of the day, when I can manage to be awake for it.

in the morning is a good

  5. I am awake before my family on weekdays now, but that's going to change with my husband student teaching soon. I'm trying to get up a little earlier lately so I can enjoy that alone time.

I love the way you captured that feeling in so few words. And the stanza about your cat was perfect!
