My Holiday Madness (and Balance)

It's after 10:30 p.m. Austen has the sniffles and is still awake. I'm waiting for him to settle down before I take a quick shower and catch up with Mark, who has been out with some 12 Step friends. The kids both have parties tomorrow (the last day of school before break), and I'm hoping (somehow) Austen will be well and rested enough to participate.

I didn't post yesterday due to school and family activities. I'm doing a pretty good job of taking care of me this season, but unfortunately, letting go of my writing is part of that. It's a delicate balance, because taking the time to write and making it a priority is (on the whole) very good for me, but so are sleep, time with family and time in prayer and meditation.

I hope you all are finding serenity in the midst of vacations, holiday anticipation, shopping, parties, family get togethers and everything else this season brings!

  1. Poor Austen, hope he's better in the morning. I have a horrible cold too, if I'm not well for Christmas I'm going to be seriously annoyed!

  3. It's a snow day here, so I'm forced to do nothing and ignore my long list of holiday-related errands.

    Bliss!

Thanks for the reminder to put serenity first.

  6. I just find that once December hits... there is no time for anything. I have been running around like crazy. Glad to hear you have some YOU time. Very important! Take care and have a great Holiday! Oh and I know you said Austen likes train songs... I am doing a live show tonight... errr 2 am. But i know it's different time zone... you can also listen to the archive. Hopefully he may like some of the songs...

  9. shelli, actually, I thought about that after I posted -- my blog reading and e-mail have gone by the wayside too lately. I'm hoping to catch up with that a bit in the new year as well.
